I’m incredibly excited to announce my new business!! For many months now, I’ve been working on a new photo upload card business called Kiss ME Cards (the ME is for Maine!) (www.kissmecards.com ) It is a photo upload card business that I started from scratch. (you upload your own photo, pick a design, customize your text and the cards are shipped directly to you). I have designed all of the cards myself and I’m still designing as the site is still a work in progress. I have many more designs to finish up and upload but it’s live now! (There are Holiday Cards, Birth Announcements, Thank You’s, Save the Dates, Graduation cards and Wedding Announcements and more!) My site was built by SACaudill. Don’t worry, I will still be photographing weddings and portraits full time!! My hope was to launch the site last Spring but being a full time wedding photographer, I had to put it on the back burner for a bit. With the holidays approaching I thought this would be a great time to reveal it.
Why am I doing this you ask?? Well, 15 years ago back before digital photography, I was a photography hobbyist who dabbled in children’s portraits using using black and white film. I hand colored the prints using photo oil paints on fiber paper. I LOVED the look of the photos and desperately wanted to be able to mass produce the images and make them into cards. One year for my Christmas card, I painted 100 black and white photos (the red apple that my then 2 year old daughter was holding) and adhered them to a folding card. Determined to find a way to mass produce them, I started a greeting card business. I even named my business Once Upon a Card. Finally, however, I failed to find an acceptable way to reproduce the cards….I wanted something better than a scan. I gave up because I’m a perfectionist.
Fast forward 15 years. After a decade of running a successful wedding photography business, I decided to try again. This time taking advantage of modern technology and the internet. I have a clean simple design style that will not clutter the photo which is most important to me. Since I am a photographer, I want the photo(s) to be enhanced by my designs. I also only offer 5×7 cards for that very same reason. I feel that a photo takes on a life of it’s own the bigger it gets in size. I have spent a lot of time choosing the right card stock as well. I feel there are only 2 textures that will enhance a photo and those are the only two that I offer….lustre (a slight sheen on smooth, thick card stock) and matte (a matte with a slight metallic sheen).
After years of being a professional wedding and portrait photographer, I know the value first hand of having photos done professionally! I highly encourage using a professional photographer. Also I will credit each and every professional photographer on the back of the cards for their hard work.
So whether you’re a wedding client of mine, a photographer, a friend or a friend of a friend, please check out www.kissmecards.com for your wedding thank you, holiday card and more!
My ultimate goal is to eventually employ stay at home mothers and/or fathers in the state of Maine who would like to work from home! Here are just a few samples below!
