I had never been to Laurel Hill Chapel  before and I was stunned at how beautiful it was.  It looked very much like a castle. The fairy tale-like  cloak that Shannon wore made me feel like I was in a story book….really!  I picked up on the fairytale theme and went with it as I captured their day.  Well it’s all making sense now because about an hour ago, Shannon sent me an e-mail and told about Mike’s fairytale proposal.    Here is an excerpt from her blog:

When I walked out into the living room, Michael was grinning from ear to ear. He handed me an glittery present. “I wrapped it myself.”  The glossy sliver wrapping paper caught light spilling in from the living room, giving it a lustrous sheen. Ribbons dangling from the carefully tied bow brushed against my arm. “What is it?”“You’re going to have to open it to find out.”  While unwrapping the gift, a million thoughts raced through my mind. I couldn’t figure out what he was giving me. After ripping through the wrapping paper, I uncovered a book. My heart skipped a beat. A book. As an aspiring novelist and a lover of books, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect gift. I turned the tome over in my hands, admiring the carved, detailed craftsmanship. It was gorgeous. It looked like a fairy-tale book.  The symbol on the front cover caught my eye. “Pisces,” I whispered, “And Taurus. Together.”  “Yeah,” he said, still grinning madly, “I can’t believe you caught that.”  I opened the opened the front cover and was stunned to discover Michael’s proposal. At the bottom of the first few pages of the book, Michael had carved out the shape of my engagement ring. Resting inside the space was my ring, with the following words written above:  The best story begins with us.

Shannon and Mike has a wonderful reception at the Biddeford/Saco Country Club.  There were lots of unique touches and meaningful details throughout the room.   Perfect!!
